Drive Caves Road through the karst limestone country between Margaret River and Augusta — a series of spectacular show caves containing stalactites, stalagmites, and crystal formations in caverns beneath the ancient coastal limestone plateau.

Mammoth Cave
Mammoth Cave is Margaret River's most accessible show cave — the large chambers contain fossil bones of megafauna including Zygomaturus and the giant wombat Diprotodon, preserved in the cave sediments for 350,000 years.

Lake Cave
Lake Cave is the most beautiful of the Margaret River show caves — a permanent underground lake reflects the delicate cave decorations above, and the entrance descends through a giant doline (collapsed cave roof) choked with karri trees.

Jewel Cave
Jewel Cave near Augusta is the largest and most spectacular — the 750-metre circuit passes the longest straw stalactite in any tourist cave (5.5 metres), and the cave's sheer scale and crystal formations make it the most impressive of the region's show caves.

Ngilgi Cave Yallingup
Ngilgi Cave at Yallingup at the northern end of Caves Road is the oldest show cave in Western Australia (open since 1900) — the cave is significant in Wardandi Noongar culture as the site where the spirit Ngilgi defeated the evil spirit Wolgine.

Boranup Forest Drive
Boranup Forest along Caves Road is a karri forest 25 km south of Margaret River — the tall karri trees, the third-tallest hardwood in the world, create cathedral-like groves on the limestone plateau above the caves.

Calgardup Cave
Calgardup Cave is a self-guided cave allowing exploration without a tour — the smaller cave requires crawling through sections with a helmet and lamp, giving a more adventurous experience than the walk-in show caves.
