Marine Park Centre Coral Garden
The coral garden at the Marine Park Centre on Redang's main beach is the most celebrated snorkel site in Peninsular Malaysia — the protected area immediately offshore from the marine park jetty has been closed to boat traffic and fishing for decades, allowing a coral reef of exceptional density and health to develop in water 3-8 metres deep. The coral coverage in the Marine Park garden includes staghorn corals, table corals, massive brain corals, and the brilliant blue Acropora colonies that are the signature of Redang's healthiest reef sections, with a fish density high enough that a snorkeler entering the water is immediately surrounded by parrotfish, surgeonfish, and angelfish feeding on the coral.

Turtle Point Redang
Turtle Point on Redang's northern reef is the most reliable turtle snorkel site in the island's marine park — the resident population of green turtles that feeds on the seagrass beds and rests on the sandy patches between coral structures at Turtle Point can be observed throughout the day from the surface. The turtles at Redang are larger and older individuals than at many other Malaysian turtle sites, with some individuals estimated to be 50-80 years old by the size of their carapaces, and their unhurried movement through the reef landscape creates the most unhurried wildlife encounter in the Redang marine park.

Shark Bay Redang
Shark Bay at the southern end of Redang's western shore has the most reliable blacktip reef shark encounters at a snorkel-accessible depth in the Redang marine park — the sharks patrol the shallow channels between the coral heads in 3-6 metres of water, visible from the surface to any snorkeler in the area. The blacktip reef sharks at Shark Bay have been observed at the same location for decades and are considered semi-resident individuals who use the bay as their primary hunting territory, making them the most predictably present large marine wildlife in the Redang snorkel programme.

Redang Marine Park Boundary
The Redang Marine Park encompasses the island and its surrounding waters to a protected zone that prohibits fishing, coral collection, and boat anchoring in the core area — the marine park designation has been in effect since 1994 and the long-term protection has allowed the coral reef ecosystem to develop to its current exceptional state. Redang is consistently rated by dive and snorkel operators as having the highest coral coverage among the Terengganu marine park islands (Redang, Perhentian, Lang Tengah, Kapas, and Tenggol), reflecting the combined benefits of the marine park protection and the island's remoteness from the mainland.

Pasir Panjang Beach
Pasir Panjang (Long Beach) is Redang's main resort beach — the 2km arc of white sand backed by the forested hills of the island's interior and facing the clear turquoise water of the South China Sea is the visual centrepiece of the Redang resort experience. The beach's exceptional water clarity (the sandy bottom visible at 5-6 metres depth from the surface) is a direct result of the absence of river runoff (Redang has no significant rivers discharging sediment into the sea) and the marine park's restriction on boat traffic in the nearshore zone.

Mini Malaysia Reef
The reef section known as Mini Malaysia on Redang's northern coast has some of the most diverse coral species assemblage in the Redang marine park — the area is named for its representation of the full range of Malaysian coral species in a relatively small area, creating a coral diversity display that functions as a natural collection of the reef-building corals found throughout Malaysian waters. The diversity of coral growth forms at Mini Malaysia (from the delicate branching Acropora to the massive Porites colonies that have been growing for centuries) provides the most comprehensive single-site coral education experience in the Redang snorkel programme.
