Laguna Sofia Access Path
The laguna sits just north of town, accessible via a gravel track that skirts the edge of the Patagonian steppe and wetland mosaic.

Flamingo Nesting Area
Chilean flamingos wade in the shallow brackish waters, their pink plumage vivid against the grey skies and tawny grassland.

Bandurria Colony
The buff-necked ibis, known locally as bandurria, gather here in noisy colonies, their distinctive calls carrying across the open steppe.

Guanaco Viewpoint
Scan the surrounding grassland for guanacos — wild relatives of the llama — grazing in family groups on the wind-flattened steppe.

The southern shore offers the best reflections of Monte Tarn and the surrounding Andes in the still lagoon water on calm mornings.
