Port Macquarie Koala Hospital
The Koala Hospital treats over 200 koalas annually — rescued from car strikes, dog attacks, and disease, the hospital's free public access allows visitors to see koalas in recovery enclosures year-round.

Koala Feeding Time
At 3pm daily, koala carers hand-feed recovering patients — the eucalyptus leaf selection process (koalas eat only 50 of the 700 Australian species) is demonstrated and explained by hospital volunteers.

Roto House Heritage Grounds
The historic Roto House grounds adjacent to the hospital date from 1891 — the heritage cottage and its mature fig trees provide habitat for wild koalas that are regularly spotted in the garden.

Sea Acres Rainforest Entry
Sea Acres Rainforest Centre protects 72 hectares of subtropical rainforest — one of the largest remaining coastal rainforest patches on the mid-north coast, containing 170 plant species and wild koala populations.

A 1.3-kilometre elevated boardwalk winds through the rainforest canopy — the boardwalk protects the delicate root systems while allowing visitors to walk at eye level with the mid-story vegetation.
