Gili Trawangan Beach Party Walk

Walk Gili Trawangan — the largest and most famous of the three Gili Islands, where the car-free beach party atmosphere, world-class snorkelling, and spectacular sunsets have created one of Southeast Asia's most celebrated island destinations, reachable from Bali by fast boat.

  1. 1

    Gili T Harbour Arrival

Arriving at Gili Trawangan's harbour, the absence of motorised vehicles is immediately apparent — the only transport on the island is by horse cart (cidomo) or bicycle, a car-free policy that creates a pedestrian paradise and defines the island's relaxed character, with the harbour area of restaurants, dive shops, and beach bars visible immediately beyond the boat landing.

  2. 2

    Gili T Night Market Strip

The night market strip along Gili Trawangan's main street runs from the harbour north along the beach — the nightly gathering of food stalls, barbecue restaurants, and tourist vendors creates Gili's most sociable evening scene, with the mixed smell of grilling seafood, the sound of live music from the bars behind, and the constant movement of travellers between the stalls.

  3. 3

    Gili T Sunset Beach

The west-facing beach of Gili Trawangan is famous for its sunsets — the open ocean view toward Bali with Agung and Rinjani volcanoes visible on a clear day, combined with the beach bars that set up their bean bags and cocktails for the evening performance, makes this one of Southeast Asia's most celebrated sunset experiences in one of its most beautifully-positioned beach environments.

  4. 4

    Gili T Turtle Point Snorkel

Turtle Point on Gili Trawangan's east coast is the island's most accessible snorkelling location — the shallow reef flat where green turtles regularly feed on sea grass creates the closest thing to a guaranteed turtle encounter in Indonesian waters, with turtles sometimes visible in water so shallow you can almost touch them while snorkelling.

  5. 5

    Gili T Hill Viewpoint

The hill at Gili Trawangan's southeast corner provides the island's only elevated viewpoint — the walk up through the island's interior reveals coconut palms, modest local houses, and the goats that graze in the vegetation, before arriving at a panoramic view across all three Gili Islands, the Lombok coast, and the distant silhouette of Bali's mountains on clear days.

  6. 6

    Gili T Party Strip Night

Gili Trawangan's nightlife strip operates on a rotation system where different bars host parties on different nights — the weekly calendar of Full Moon parties, themed nights, and DJ events means there is always a concentrated party somewhere on the island, and the walkable scale of Gili T means the entire nightlife circuit can be covered on foot in 20 minutes.
