The Corycian Cave at 1,370 meters on the Parnassus plateau above Delphi, the most important sacred cave in ancient Greece after the Idaean Cave on Crete, was dedicated to Pan and the nymphs and used for rituals from the prehistoric Neolithic period through the classical and Roman periods. The archaeological excavations found over 24,000 knucklebone gaming pieces as votive offerings, suggesting that the cave was the site of the games associated with the cult of Pan and the nymphs that the literary sources describe.

The formaela cheese of Arachova, the semi-hard sheep and goat milk cheese with the Protected Designation of Origin that has been produced in the Arachova village dairies for centuries, is the most distinctive single food product of the Delphi mountain area and the cheese that the Arachova village identity is built around. The Delphi olive oil, produced from the vast olive grove that extends from the Parnassus foothills to the Gulf of Corinth and that the ancient sources describe as the Sacred Grove of Apollo, carries the Amfissa Protected Designation of Origin that certifies the geographic origin and the traditional production method of the oil from the Amfissa variety olive tree that has been cultivated on the Parnassus slopes since antiquity. The Delphi olive oil cooperative in Amfissa is the most accessible producer for the visitor combining the archaeological site with the agricultural heritage.

Parnassus Ski Resort: The Athens Weekend Destination
The Parnassus ski resort, operating from December to April on the northern slopes of the massif above the Arachova village, is the primary weekend ski destination for the Athens population and the economic foundation of the Arachova village tourism economy that the winter ski season supports more robustly than the summer archaeological visits. The ski resort infrastructure of 6 chairlifts and 23 runs operating between 1,600 and 2,340 meters provides the most convenient ski access in mainland Greece.
