Salang Beach North
Salang Beach at the northern tip of Tioman's west coast is the most peaceful of the west coast resort beaches — the small bay with its fringing reef visible at low tide, the few dozen chalets that make up the Salang resort community, and the relatively small number of visitors compared to the more accessible central beaches creates a quieter, more intimate beach atmosphere. The reef directly off Salang Beach is the best shallow-water snorkel site on the north coast, with the coral formations in 2-5 metres of water visible from the surface and accessible without a boat.

Air Batang Beach
Air Batang Beach (ABC) is the most sociable beach on Tioman — the long beach backed by the most concentrated collection of budget accommodation and restaurants on the island is the social hub of backpacker Tioman, where the evening gathering on the beach and in the beachfront restaurants creates the most lively atmosphere on the island. The beach itself is a mix of sand and exposed coral rubble at low tide, making it less aesthetically pristine than Juara on the east coast, but the community atmosphere and the convenience of the dive shops, restaurants, and boat services compensate for the beach quality.

Tekek-Air Batang Coastal Walk
The coastal path between Tekek and Air Batang follows the rocky headland between the two villages — the 20-minute walk over the rocky point through coastal forest provides the best views of the west coast bays and the offshore islands visible to the north (Pulau Tulai, Pulau Soyak) and the most accessible coastal rock pool ecosystem on the island. The path passes through secondary forest on the headland where the forest birds (sunbirds, bulbuls, and the white-bellied sea eagle that nests on the headland) are more easily observed than in the dense primary forest interior.

Juara Beach East Coast
Juara Beach on Tioman's east coast is the most beautiful and most remote beach on the island — the long crescent of pale sand backed by primary forest and the low hills of the island's spine, accessible only by jungle trail or boat, maintains the undeveloped character that the west coast beaches lost to tourism development decades ago. The stronger surf from the South China Sea that faces the east coast makes swimming conditions at Juara more variable than the sheltered west coast, but the beach itself, with its green turtle nesting sites and the absence of resort development, provides the most pristine beach experience on the island.

Nipah Beach Secluded Bay
Nipah Beach in the south of Tioman's west coast is one of the least developed bays accessible from the main island — the small beach backed by secondary forest with a handful of basic chalets maintains an atmosphere significantly quieter than the main resort beaches further north. The coral reef at Nipah has received less diving pressure than the more accessible north coast sites and has sections of excellent hard coral coverage, making it a worthwhile snorkel stop for visitors willing to make the boat journey from the central beaches.

Twin Peaks Tioman Landmark
The twin mountain peaks of Gunung Kajang and the secondary peak visible from the west coast are Tioman's most distinctive topographic feature — the peaks that appear in the Berjaya Tioman resort logo and in almost every aerial photograph of the island rise abruptly from the coastline to nearly 1,000 metres, creating a dramatic mountain-meets-sea landscape. The peaks are visible from the west coast beaches throughout the day, with the most dramatic lighting at dawn when the mountains are silhouetted against the eastern sky and at sunset when the angled light illuminates the forested slopes in gold.
