Sunshine Beach is immediately south of the national park — a surf village with a genuine local character quite different from the resort atmosphere of Noosa Heads, with a reliable right-hand break.

Sunshine Beach Surf Club
The Sunshine Beach Surf Life Saving Club is one of Queensland's oldest — the club and its volunteer surf lifesavers have patrolled this exposed beach since 1950, maintaining safety on a beach with powerful surf.

Peregian Beach Village
Peregian Beach is a small, relaxed settlement among the coastal heath — the village has a weekly market on Sunday mornings and the long, uncrowded beach extends for kilometres in both directions.

Coolum Beach Headland
Coolum's headland above the beach provides views of the entire Sunshine Coast stretch — Mount Coolum rises behind the town as a volcanic plug visible from the beach, and the offshore reefs attract surfers from the whole region.

Coastal Heath Walk
The coastal heath between the beach and the development is extraordinary in winter — banksias, grevilleas, and coastal wattles create a low, wind-pruned landscape of flowering shrubs visited by honeyeaters.

Stumers Creek Estuary
Stumers Creek at Coolum is a tidal estuary where the beach meets the creek mouth — pelicans, herons, and brahminy kites work the estuary, and kayaks can access the creek inland through mangrove channels.
