Gunlom Plunge Pool & Escarpment Walk
Walk to Gunlom Falls in the southern Kakadu — one of the most beautiful plunge pools in the Territory — and climb to the top of the escarpment for a view of the surrounding Kakadu landscape.

Gunlom Car Park
Gunlom (also known as UDP Falls) is in the southern section of Kakadu — the 4WD track from the Kakadu Highway reaches the falls after 37 km, with the access road conditions determining whether it is open each dry season.

Gunlom Plunge Pool
The Gunlom plunge pool at the base of the falls is the most beautiful swimming hole in Kakadu — a large, clear pool in a sandstone gorge, fed by a waterfall that runs all dry season from the plateau above.

Falls Escarpment Track
A steep track climbs beside the falls to the escarpment above — the 1.5 km climb gains 200 metres of elevation and arrives at a series of infinity pools on the plateau edge with extraordinary views.

Plateau Infinity Pools
Natural rock pools on the plateau edge above the falls are filled with clear water from the wet season rains — swimming in these elevated pools with the Kakadu landscape stretching to the horizon below is a genuinely transcendent experience.

Southern Kakadu View
The escarpment view from above Gunlom stretches south into the Alligator Rivers region — the woodland and savanna landscape, unmarked by development, extends to the horizon in every direction from this elevated vantage point.

Yurmikmik Walk Circuit
The Yurmikmik walk circuit near Gunlom passes through motor car falls, Kurrundie Creek, and a series of pools and walking tracks that require a full day — the southern Kakadu is the least visited section with the most pristine landscapes.
